Hi everyone!
I decided to start my own blog. This is where I will put down my thoughts and what I'm learning each day. You're probably wondering why I chose to name this blog 'Purple Myrrh'. Well, if you know me you know the purple part cause my favorite color is purple. It is also the color of royalty and since I'm the daughter of the most high King, well it just makes since. Myrrh has been something that has meant a whole lot to me recently in the last couple of weeks. When I was little I would always choose which of the wise man's gifts I would bring had I been around at the time of Jesus' birth. My answer......myrrh. My reason back then was that it sounded cool. Now after some teachings I have heard my reason is this.....Myrrh is a very expensive burial spice. Back in the day they used it to perfume the body before they buried it. When Esther was in the palace being perfumed before she could see the King, one of the treatments was 6 months of myrrh! Myrrh is the spice of death. She and others would not only scrub themselves in it and bathe in it, but they also had to eat it until the smell of the myrrh came through the pores on their skin. Did you know that when she entered the King's presence he smelled her before he saw her? I want my life to be where I daily die to my flesh and eat the myrrh that my King has given as a gift to me so that when I enter his presence he can smell me before I talk to him. Lately he has been feeding me myrrh. I have to choose to obediently choke it down and not push it away. (myrrh tastes really bad cause it is not what our flesh wants to do!) At the end of the day I hope that I will have died to myself and will smell like myrrh to my King.
Have a blessed day!
